When your hotel has a SuitePad device in the room, a few things change: there is no printed guest folder, no paper menu, and you can skip a room cleaning with one tap. Here is what that adds up to, with figures from hotels that use it and from published travel surveys. Every number links to its source.
Most of it happens without you noticing. The device holds everything that used to be printed, and gives you a choice you were never asked before: do you want your room cleaned tomorrow?
The guest directory, menus, spa lists and event flyers live on the device. Nothing is printed for your stay, and nothing goes in the bin when you leave.
If you stay more than one night, the device asks whether you want tomorrow's cleaning. One tap to skip, and housekeeping knows in advance. Some hotels say thank you with a voucher or a donation.
Green Key, Clef Verte, a water or energy programme: the hotel can show you on the device what it does and how you can take part during your stay.
Every skipped cleaning is recorded. When a hotel tells you how many cleanings its guests skipped this year, that is a count, not a guess.
A room cleaning uses water, chemicals, linen washes and labour. Every one a guest skips is one that does not happen. Added up over a year, the effect is bigger than most hotels expect.

Estimates based on average consumption per room cleaning, as published on the Green Option feature page. A hotel's own figures depend on room count, length of stay and cleaning standard.
Travel surveys and SuitePad's own data point the same way: a large share of guests do not want daily cleaning. Until now, nobody asked. A prompt on the device does.
