Personal guest communication during their stay is the main objective of every hotel employee. But intensive service is not always possible, particularly during peak hours. With the new lobby touchscreen, the Berlin startup SuitePad is supporting hotel employees in guest communication and directing guests’ attention to the services on offer at the hotel. As a modern point of sale, this new lobby touchscreen will bring in additional revenue for SuitePad’s partner hotels from 07/03/2017.

Every hotelier has a personal interest in ensuring that all guests leave the hotel feeling satisfied. Guest communication and service play an important role during their stay. For this reason, digital solutions are increasingly providing more support for hotel employees when it comes to contact with guests. One of the frontrunners for tablet-based communications solutions in the German-speaking hotel industry is the Berlin startup SuitePad. The company was founded in 2012 and has installed in-room tablet PCs in more than 300 hotels across Germany, Austria and Switzerland over the past few years. Recently, SuitePad started offering a touchscreen for lobbies to bypass waiting times and relieve staff. The lobby is often considered the heart of a hotel: every guest will end up here at least once during their stay. But particularly at peak times, the lobby can also be very busy.

The four-star boutique hotel, Max am Meer, in the Baltic sea spa town of Kühlungsborn, for instance, uses the lobby touchscreen as a separate info point next to the reception desk to give guests and passers-by a quick overview of the hotel, wellness offerings, restaurants and tourist attractions in the vicinity of the hotel.

Lobby touchscreens implemented for cross-selling

Lobby touchscreens serve as a supplement to SuitePads in hotel rooms and can be used specifically as a cross-selling tool. Their objective is to direct guests’ attention to the services on offer at the hotel.

Mario Kettler, Assistant Manager and Head of Sales & Marketing at the Max am Meer hotel, explains how the lobby touchscreen not only creates value within hospitality management in the Europa-Hotel Kühlungsborn but also for guests: “Since our company consists of two hotels, three restaurants and a hotel shop, the lobby touchscreen is a modern point of sale. We are particularly excited by the rapid and transparent updates to content and the extensive options for generating revenue. With just a few touches, guests will be granted access to the whole world of the Max am Meer hotel, as well as our company.”

The lobby touchscreen is not difficult to install. If a hotel is already equipped with SuitePad in guest rooms, the company will also provide a package consisting of a mini-computer, Wi-Fi connector and HDMI cable to provide the lobby touchscreen with every SuitePad function.
